खाटूश्याम जी को बर्बरीक के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, जो महाभारत के वीर योद्धा घटोत्कच (भीम के पुत्र) के पुत्र थे। बर्बरीक को भगवान शिव से तीन अमोघ बाणों का वरदान प्राप्त था और वे महाभारत युद्ध में अपराजेय थे।

📖 Mythological History of Khatu Shyam Ji

Khatu Shyam Ji is believed to be the reincarnation of Barbarik, the grandson of Bhima (son of Ghatotkacha) from the Mahabharata. Barbarik was blessed by Lord Shiva with three powerful arrows, making him an unbeatable warrior.

Before the Kurukshetra war, he expressed his desire to participate. Lord Krishna, to test his intentions, disguised himself and questioned Barbarik. Upon realizing that Barbarik’s support would go to the weaker side (which would keep shifting and thus disrupt balance), Krishna asked for his head in donation (Shiro Daan).
